The Oak is the Student Ministry at Shady Oaks Baptist, made up of students in 7th -12th grades, and is a great place to connect. We want to connect you into relationships with Jesus Christ, other students, and with opportunities to serve and grow in your relationship with God.
At The Oak we want to see students' lives be altered in a way that is only possible when a life collides with that of Jesus Christ! We strive to be a ministry that is focused on helping those in need, providing hope to the hopeless, and living life to the fullest with the new life that is provided in Christ.
Life Groups
Sunday Morning at 10:45
The heart of The Oak is found in learning the Gospel. Our Life Groups are one of best ways we learn. It is a small group setting for students; where in-depth discussions based on life and the lessons taught on Sundays and Wednesday happen. Each group meets according to their grade and are led by our LIFE Group Ministers. Through these LIFE Groups our students participate in life changing conversations.
Currently our Sunday morning and Wednesday night curriculum tie together. This curriculum is to help us thread Old Testament and New Testament passages together.
The Oak
Wednesday nights - 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
This is a mid-week service for all our students 7th-12th graders. Wednesday nights during the school year at 6:30-8:00 PM in the basement. This meeting has a higher energy compared to the Sunday mornings where we will play games, join in worship and the lessons are designed toward application. After the lessons, there is a discussion time where the student breakout into their Small Groups to discuss how to best apply what was taught and pray for each other.
Our current sermon series is called Tracing the Thread. On Wednesday we take an Old Testament passage and see how God was working. Then on Sunday morning we will take a New Testament passage and tie it back to our Wednesday night lesson.
Home Discipleship Groups
